Oh here’s an interesting one to get us started. Mike Tyson is getting his own Vegas show. Yeah, calling it “Tyson: the Raw Truth.” It will be Mike Tyson on stage telling his life story. Good lord, Mike telling stories for what, an hour, hour and a half. This has trainwreck written all over it!
More from the Only In America file, and just as strange but true; The American Mustache Institute (AMI) is planning a "Million Mustache March". Why?, to convince lawmakers to create government incentives to grow facial hair. Serious…..They’re pushing the STACHE Act, which would quote- "provide a $250 annual tax deduction for mustache related grooming supplies"…this for any “proper mustache-wearing patriot”. Products and supplies the AMI feel should be covered include:
• Mustache and beard trimming instruments
• Weightless conditioning agents and wax
• Facial hair colouring products (for men & women over 43 years of age) --that ones interesting!
• Bacon
• Mustache combs and mirrors
• Burt Reynolds wallet-sized photos
…Well, this is ridiculous, but I’ll give them creativity bonus points for trying to get a tax break on Bacon and Burt Reynolds photos…
Moving on. I read an article this week saying text messaging is bad for your brain. Yep, apparently if you write and receive a lot of texts you are hurting your ability to learn new words and communicate properly…I don’t know about you, but my first thought was OMG, WTF!...... (By the way another WTF moment is coming up below)
Now to entertainment news, a positive note from late night TV. TBS has renewed Conan for two more years! Thumbs up to that…Now if we could only find TBS on TV!
Elsewhere, it’s also Oscar weekend. The 84th annual Academy Awards, with Billy Crystal back as host. Highlights going in, Martin Scorsese’s “Hugo” leads with 11 nominations. Odds makers sight French silent film The Artist most likely to win best picture….I’m giving good odds on the show going long, and boring, as usual. Any takers?!
It's also the Superbowl of Nascar this weekend. Well sort of, the 54th Daytona 500 WAS set to go today (Sunday). But, for the first time ever, Nascar postponed the race until tomorrow. (Mon. Feb 27th). The postponement is due to rain…..Boy am I glad I didn’t offer odds on Daytona going super long….woulda lost a fortune! :-P

A giant Boo! to Canada’s federal government. This week they approved construction of a $42-million glass dome for a temporary home for the House of Commons. There’s been a bit of uproar over this, however, I say here is where you can get really angry:
The glass dome is all part of a renovation of the Parliament Buildings in Ottawa. Which, are currently more then 1000 percent over budget. You didn’t read that wrong….3 zeros! 1000% over budget….. Why aren’t people being fired over this?! Initially expected to cost 465 million dollars. Experts say the final bill will be higher then 5 Billion dollars!…465 million to over 5 billion…Whaa Thaa Faaa!!… I’m horrible with math and numbers, and you know what, even I could have ball parked this one better….Yeesh!
