These Are The Things I Think About -- Apr 21st–Apr 27th

It was a long weekend last time around, looking back, Captain America made another 200 million over Easter at the box office. On the flip side, the new Johnny Depp movie, umm, didn’t do so well. Transcendence, made about 11 million dollars. Ouch! Probably cost that much just to sign Johnny to do the movie. Those producers are taking a hit, big time.

Now for this week's, “comic karmic movie producer irony of the week”… OK, working on a better title, anywho:
Movie Producer, Jerry Bruckheimer says bad timing is delaying the making of Bad Boys 3. Really Jerry?!..It’s not a horrendous script, or just a flat out bad movie idea holding you back?. Movie fans, look into your soul, ask yourself, Do we really need a Bad Boys 3?... And yes I did check, Michael Bay is set to direct it. Again, a Jerry Bruckeimer and Michael Bay helmed Bad Boys 3…Think about it, do we really need this?

Actual decent news from the movie world, a life-sized bronze statue of late movie critic Roger Ebert has been unveiled. It took place at annual film fest Roger started, Ebertfest. The statue features Ebert sitting between two empty theatre seats, where visitors can sit with him. 2 Thumbs Up to this…By the way, time flies, it was just over a year ago Roger Ebert died following his long battle with cancer, he was 70.

The Easter weekend also marked International Record Store Day on the Saturday. Some cool stuff came out of this. First up, Jack White made history creating the World's Fastest Released Record. On Record Store Day, immediately after performing 2 songs* at his ‘Third Man Records’ in Nashville, Jack sent the master tapes to be pressed into vinyl. The record was up for sale just 4 hours later. Cool.

And best yet following Record Store Day, vinyl is making a comeback. I’ve been telling you this for years, and the numbers are finally showing it in a significant way. 2 years ago 1-in-20 of us had bought a vinyl album in the past 12 months. As of this past year, the number is up to 1-in-10 of us…By the way, in addition to vinyl, cassettes are making a comeback too. Mark my words on this one.

And some “Top” lists were announced this week. Here’s some highlights:
Time Magazine set Robin Wright, from House of Cards, at the top of their '100 Most Influential People in the World' list. People Magazine has named 12 years a Slave star Lupita Nyong'o this year’s ‘World’s Most Beautiful Woman’. And GQ came out with it’s list of the 'Funniest People Alive', a Redhead topped the list. No, not me, it was Louis C.K. though. Hats off to Louis!

--Oh P.S. *-Jack performed a cover of Elvis Presley's Power of My Love, it was the B side. And, this tune Lazaretto. It’ll be the title track on his next album. Enjoy:
