These Are The Things I Think About -- Sept 22nd-28th

Taking a look at the Fall TV this week. My 2 cents on new shows. Already wondering how off I will be. Anywho, here we go:

Gotham: Essentially the lead up to Batman, it’s Pre-Commissioner James Gordon fighting crime in the City of Gotham. This show looks good, let’s just hope it doesn’t get too cheesy or punny with it’s writing. When it comes to Batman on TV you gotta either go dark & edgy, or off the map Adam West era Batman cheesy & punny. Anywhere in-between, forget it.

Black-ish: Great casting with Anthony Anderson (he’s really due for a big TV hit) and Laurence Fishburne. Trouble is, outside the casting, what does it have? It’s described as the ‘guy trying to keep up the family traditions with everyone/everything changing around him’ usual sitcom fare. If it’s usual sitcom writing, Black-ish will be Done-ish by the end of the season.

True Detective: Technically not a new show. It’s got an all new story though, and all new cast. This year’s lead roles have been landed by Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn…Now to wait patiently for the Vince Vaughn scenes where he’s talking a lot, and it’s really fast, and he’s not quite on a topic, but he’s mentioning relevant things, yet he’s not sure if they are relevant, though they could be relevant, so he’s saying them anyway, etc.,etc., etc.*

How To Get Away With Murder: Again, this one’s got potential. It will all boil down to the writing. The show is about a Law Professor trying to solve a murder. Unless the murder was really interesting, or there is a whole other second story going on, it will be tough to see this storyline running multiple seasons.

NCIS: New Orleans: The excitement of NCIS in the city of New Orleans. And the Mardi Gras type whackiness ensues…This one stars Scott Bakula, he’s usually pretty good. No Al, or Ziggy, though. I checked for all you Quantum Leap fans.

Lavalantula: OK, this isn’t a TV show, however it is headed to your TV. Following the success of Sharknado 1 & 2, the SyFy Network has announced Lavalantula** (the Tarantula that spits Lava, silly) is in the work. Oh and it will star Steve Guttenberg and Micheal Winslow from the Police Academy movies….I’m already filing this in my much coveted “So Bad It’s Good” Folder

-- Oh P.S. *-Yeah this scene. Just switch it out with Cops & Robbers type terminology

P.S.S. -- **-Try making your own SyFy Movie. Take an animal and match it with a natural disaster or something scary… My best, so far, is Quaketapus…. Oh, and Quaketapussy, it would that make a great Bond Girl name in a ‘007’ Porn Parody, just sayin.
