These Are The Things I Think About -- Mar19th-25th

Well a little movie called the Hunger Games opened Friday. Here’s what you need to know. It’s based on a book series. And, people have lost their damn minds over it! Fans camped outside of theatres. It outsold all non-sequel movies in history in advanced ticket sales. As of writing this blog post, Hunger Games has made over 155 million dollars; it's the 3rd biggest movie opening weekend; it's become the biggest March opening weekend ever. Prepare yourself to hear endlessly about this movie for easily the next 6 months.

To technology, Nokia has issued a patent for a tattoo that vibrates when a call or text message comes in to your phone. I’d just say be careful where you get that tattoo…. No I didn’t fart!…that’s just my tramp stamp going off!…Looking at you, ladies.

The first day of Spring arrived on Tuesday. As the snow melts make sure you are on the watch for thawing dog turds from the winter, and green vomit from St. Patrick’s Day….Ah Spring, take a deep breath in!

Talking smells, Donald Trump is launching a new cologne, he calls it “Success”. A nice compliment to his hairstyle “Failure”.

And, here’s your useless fact of the week. On Thursday’s date in 1733, carbonated water was invented….Huh?, who knew!
Yeah, I hear it was inspired when someone farted in the pool….Oh, bubbly!

--Oh P.S. The creator of Red Bull died over the weekend. He was 89. *Hear his red bull wings did get him to heaven, but sadly they wouldn’t let him in. Apparently he was too annoying.
(Note: Youtube wouldn't co-operate to load the video in my blog. Watch it here: REDBULL)

P.S.S-- * yeah the Red Bull joke was kinda week, so a challenge to you, drop me a comment if you can beat it!

These Are The Things I Think About -- Mar12th-18th

Well St. Patrick’s Day just passed. Hope yours was fantastic!…or at the very least very O’kay. (come on that one was so bad it was good!)...By the way, St Patrick's day is the busiest day of the year for cab drivers. That’s a good thing, people being responsible. A bad thing if you're a cabbie without a bucket in the car....just sayin'

Well, after 244 years, Encyclopedia Britannica has announced it’s going out of print. True fact, at one point having a set of Encyclopedia Britannica books was considered quite the status symbol…Yeah, read all about it on Wikipedia. Ohhh…What, too soon?!…

Wednesday was “World Pi Day”…March 14th, 3/14 or 3.14. You gotta think Math teachers everywhere would have been so giddy about it. Yet, they had no class to share it with…. You win again March Break, you win again….well played.

Elsewhere, in relationships, it’s official Dick Van Dyke is a dirty old man. Dick just got married; To his 40 year old girlfriend. Dick is 46 years older then she is…Do the math on that one!

Talking dick. Random Happy Birthday wishes to Ron Jeremy. Ron turned 59 this past Monday. Now, if you don’t know who he is, ask Google NOT your Gramma. A: If Gramma doesn’t know and “Googles” him herself she will never be the same, or, B: What if Gramma does know, what if she knows Ron “personally”, you will never be the same…or at least never sleep again.

And finally, a new survey says 31 percent of people feel facebook has been bad for society. Read all about it on my facebook fan page….ha!

--Oh, P.S. A little personal moment for the P.S. this time around. As mentioned above St. Patrick’s Day just passed. Myself, I went out with some folks from work. When we did a Happy St. Pats cheers I came to the conclusion except for 2 of them, all of us were out for St. Pats with people we never knew till just a few months ago. We had a bit of a WOW moment. It was quite a reminder… you never know where life’ll take ya.
....A little bittersweet too, as I do miss old friends on celebrations & holidays like this. So to them, to paraphrase:
May the road rise up to meet you. May the sun shine warm upon your face, and the rain fall softly on your fields...until we meet again :)
Whether with family & friends, new or old, hope your St. Patrick's Day was great!

These Are The Things I Think About -- Feb27th - Mar11th

Yeah this latest post is a little late. Been getting my life in order after moving. Fact: moving sucks, especially in a snow storm…Oh, and a shamless plug, I recently celebrated my 100th show on Q92!!...Find me weekday afternoon's at Q92Timmins.com
Anywho, here's a look at what’s happened since last time:

Oscars came and went, borefest. Razzie nominations came out, they go April 1st. Adam Sandler has set a new Razzie nomination record with 11.

We had leap year day on February 29th. Keep this in mind, if your pay is set on a yearly salary, you probably worked for free Leap Year Day. Just sayun'. Check with your HR department!…Now you don’t have to feel bad about stealing pens…

It was Dr. Seuss Day on March 2nd. (Insert Dr. Seuss-like rhyme here: I just CANNOT think one up today…which is even more frustrating cause this is a great real Dr. Seuss line: “Oh the thinks you can think up if only you try!”) The Lorax also opened in theatres.

Elsewhere in entertainment, Lindsay Hohan hosted Saturday Night Live. How was it?!… See thoughts on the Oscars above.

In music news, Davy Jones, former lead singer of The Monkees passed away. Davy suffered a heart attack, he was 66. 1 Monkee down, 3 to go….

In sports…Well it’s gone and quickly forgotten for Peyton Manning. The Indianapolis Colts released him, or “parted ways” with him as they say in radio, on Wednesday. But by Thursday Indianapolis Walmarts had already market down his Jerseys to less then 20 dollars. It'll be Peyton Who? by this time next week there. By the way, the Clots press conference, it was like watching old yeller*

Some beer news. Coors is testing an iced-tea-flavored version of Coors Light in Canada. Look for it in April. I’ll guess you are thinking the same thing as me, iced-tea beer sounds disgusting…but, there is beer in it, so yeah I’ll try it!

Finally, it was a significant day yesterday (Saturday) as Chuck Norris turned 72. A few Chuck Norris facts:
--When the boogeyman goes to sleep, he checks his closet for Chuck Norris.--
--‘Superman’ wears Chuck Norris pajamas.--
--When Chuck Norris does a pushup, he isn’t lifting himself up, he’s pushing the Earth down.--
Visit The Gilmore Fan Page on facebook with your favourite Chuck Norris fact!… Oh and get this; Completely true, Saturday was also International Awesomeness Day. Coincidence it fell on Chuck Norris’ B-day?!….Awesomeness Day on his B-day should be a Chuck Norris fact on its own!

OK, I think we're caught up!

--Oh P.S. Here’s the latest sign the world is coming to an end. Lady Gaga has set a new world record by becoming the first person with 20 million followers on Twitter. Justin Bieber is second with 18.1 million, then Katy Perry, Shakira and Britney Spears….This entire story makes me want to throw up…. **

P.S.S.-- * Poached that line from my buddy Mike…made me laugh.
** Talking Twitter, follow Mike...do it!...dooo it!!
